NVS Alumni Networking is Working!
NVS Trustee, Barbara Haga, has been reconnecting past students and teachers through Google Groups and Facebook for the past year. The result has been updated histories
and news flashes from many quarters.
Barbara was the first teacher hired at NVS in 1973 and is the mother of NVS alum Ben Haga. Alums suggested using the internet to share news, so Barbara led the charge into
the world of social media. She has helped locate NVS alum artists, musicians, parents, business owners, photographers, military serviceman and women, lawyers, activists,
doctors, therapists, teachers, performers, web-designers and programmers, Many others are pursuing degrees in high schools, colleges, and graduate and technical schools.
About 600 NVS Alumni are out in the world. Elizabeth deRham is teaching in Oakland, California, and is going back to graduate school. Emily Gushov lives and works in
Germany. Kelly Babcock-Whitney is an artist and trains horses. Cameron Kiest got married this month in Portland.
"Rosa Klein, Jessica (Goodrich) Donnell and Peter Davidson started a 'Neskowin Valley School Alumni' site over a year ago," says Barbara. "The networking that
Facebook provides for our alums has been a treat to watch in my role as alumni liaison." The recollection of fond memories has also brought alumni, their spouses, children,
friends and family to visit the school.
